I will rejoice and be glad in Your steadfast love, because You have seen my affliction; You have known the distress of my soul… Psalm 31:7 (ESV)
Precious friend, have you lost a loved one to death, been through a traumatic time in your marriage or had children who were rebellious? These and many other issues are what we call ‘affliction’, which in the Hebrew is defined as ‘poverty or misery’. If you have been in a situation such as this, you have known the misery and distress of your soul, as David describes in this verse.
God delivered David from many difficult circumstances and David knew he could continue to depend on God because of His steadfast love. God had seen David’s trouble and shown His love through the affliction, which brought David much joy!
Won’t you trust God to tenderly care for your distressed soul?
His steadfast love for you will bring great joy to your heart as you continue to put your trust in the Lord and grow more spiritually mature through the trials of life.
