Live with Courage | Free Scripture Lock Screen (2 Corinthians 5: 6-7)

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5: 6-7, ESV Courage is defined as ‘to boldly have confidence’. Would you say you are courageous? If so, in what is your confidence? If your confidence or faith is in Jesus Christ, you have courage which is grounded in the truth of Scripture! These verses remind us we cannot physically see our Lord while we are in earthly bodies, but sweet fellowship with Him is available to us through prayer, studying the Bible, and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We don’t need to be afraid as we walk day today because no matter what this life brings, we know we will live with Him in Heaven someday. To Be Righteous | Romans 1:17b

The righteous shall live by faith. Rom 1:17b Have you ever thought about what it means to be righteous? The word righteous is used of a person whose way of thinking, feeling, and acting is conformed to the will of God, one who is upright and virtuous. How does one become righteous? The Bible tells us the only way to be declared righteous by God is through faith in Christ, believing that He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to make payment for our sin, and rose again. This verse tells us true faith will be demonstrated by our actions. If I fear something completely irrational and the Bible tells me not to fear, I’m not demonstrating faith. I can believe all the promises that He will take care of me, but if I don’t live by them, I’m not being true to my beliefs. Won’t you make a commitment today to choose to follow Christ rather than live in fear or defeat? He will honor your obedience and give you a life filled with joy! Faith over Fear | Ephesians 6:16

In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one... Ephesians 6:16, ESV Do you find yourself living in fear when you think about the evil in the world? This verse tells us that our faith should be a shield for us in every circumstance. Faith is defined as the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider of eternal salvation through Christ. Jesus, who gives us our faith, is the only One with power to destroy the flaming darts Satan sends our way trying to defeat us. Let’s choose to put our faith in Christ rather than live a life filled with fear. Won’t you make the choice to exercise your faith and live a life full of joy! The words mercy and peace were a common Jewish greeting. Jude tells us in verse 1 that he is writing this short letter specifically to genuine believers, who are blessed because of their salvation in Christ! Jude adds love to his greeting to remind the recipients of Christ’s love. The Greek word for multiplied means 'to be increased to the fullest measure’. In other words, Jude desires believers continually remember the Lord’s blessing no matter how hard their spiritual battle might become. The Gift of Mercy | Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6 (ESV) Friend, are you overwhelmed by the difficulties of life? There is hope for you in God’s Word! In this chapter, the Psalmist is using the image of the Lord as our Shepherd, leading and caring for us as we face tough circumstances, all the while giving us comfort. The word mercy in Hebrew means ‘goodness, kindness, and faithfulness’. These are characteristics of the Lord as our Shepherd. This gift of mercy is available when we put our trust in Christ. If you don’t yet know Him, won’t you put your faith in Him today? God loved each one of us so much, He gave His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins, so we could have a personal relationship with Him forever! Won’t you choose to follow Him today? Our God is Gracious | Psalm 145:8-9

The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. Psalm 145:8-9 (ESV) Does someone come to mind when you hear the word ‘gracious’? That word in Hebrew means ‘virtuous, pleasant and good’, which is in sharp contrast to what is harsh, sharp, or bitter. Our God is the ultimate example of not only graciousness but patience, love, and the giver of mercy to all He has made. What wonderful characteristics for a follower of Christ to display as well! As we consider all that God has done and continues to do for us, may these character qualities become more obvious in our own lives. Let’s look for opportunities to show these godly characteristics, so others might see the joy of the Lord as our hearts overflow with grace and mercy toward those around us.
