I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.  (Romans 12:1-2, ESV)

Do not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewing of you mind. This is how we conform to the image of Christ and walk in His holiness!

What does God ask of a woman who calls herself a believer in Christ?

This verse is addressed to the brothers (and sisters!) who claim to know Christ and gives us clear direction. According to Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament words, the Greek word for holy is hagios. It describes a person who is separated from sin and therefore, consecrated to God or sacred. God wants us to offer our bodies to Him as an act of worship! Again in Vine’s, the Greek word metamorphoo explains the concept of being transformed. It means to undergo a complete change in character and conduct and stresses the inward change made possible when we renew our mind with Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit!

Do you want to know the will of God in your life? Are you eager to follow the path of good and acceptable and perfect? As we seek to live a holy life separated from sin, the Spirit transforms us into the image of Christ and enables us to display His character to others.

Let’s choose to surrender our lives to Christ in true worship, so we may learn what the will of God is for us—that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
